I went through Joi AI's tag pages and terms, built a custom futa character with the Create AI flow, and ran it across text chat, a voice call and in-chat selfies. I then checked how each of the six alternatives gets you to a futa character: a tag, a free-text description, community bots or an image prompt.

Joi AI is the best all-round futa AI chat for most readers, as long as you are fine building or picking a character instead of ticking a futa box. What "futa AI chat" actually means
Futanari, usually shortened to futa, is a genre from Japanese anime and hentai: a fictional character, typically drawn as a woman, who has both sets of anatomy. It is a fantasy body type that exists in drawings and stories, and the genre has its own tropes, art styles and fan communities.
A futa AI chat is any companion app where you can talk to, roleplay with or sext a character written that way. Apps reach it in four ways, and knowing which one an app uses saves a lot of searching.
- 01A browsable tag or category. Lovescape is the only partner app I checked that shows a FUTA tag on its site.
- 02A custom character description. You write the anatomy into the appearance or personality text (JOI, OurDream, Nectar, Candy).
- 03Community bots. Other users publish futa characters you can open and chat with (SpicyChat, and JOI if a creator has made one).
- 04An image prompt only. Some generators render futa art from a prompt but have little or no chat around it.
Futa is a fictional genre. Trans women are real people, and many find it hurtful when apps and lists treat the two as one category. If what you want is a companion who is a trans woman, look for apps built around trans characters instead of futa tags. This page covers the fiction genre only.
- Futa / futanari
- An adult fictional character, usually female-presenting, drawn or written with both sets of anatomy. Anime and hentai in origin.
- Character card
- The text that defines a bot: appearance, personality, scenario and first message. On JOI this is what you fill in through Create AI.

Does Joi AI allow futa characters?
Yes, as far as the rules go. Joi's terms describe an adults-only service where some AI-generated material may be sexually explicit, and only verified creators can publish adult characters. The banned list is the standard one: anything involving minors or minor-coded characters, real people's likenesses, and non-consensual material. Nothing in the terms mentions body types or anatomy, so a clearly adult futa character is fine.
Finding one is the hard part. The tag bar on joi.com offers Anime, LGBT+, Fantasy, Dominant, Straight, Kinky, Trans, MILF, Lesbian and Gay, and the gender filter has female, male and non-binary. There is no futa tag. I also went through the Trans tag page, since some sites misfile futa there, and it listed no futa bots. Other lists claim Joi has community-built futa archetypes; I could not find a reliable way to surface them.
So on Joi, futa AI chat means building the character yourself. That takes about five minutes and gives you more control than a random community bot would, which is a fair trade.
Give the character an adult age, an adult job and an adult setting. Anything that reads as young, school-based or family-based breaks Joi's rules and every other app's on this list, and characters like that get removed.
How to set up a futa character on Joi AI
Create AI asks for appearance, personality, behavior and interests. None of those has a futa field, so the anatomy goes into the text. Mention it once in appearance and once in personality, because a detail written in two places is harder for the model to drop.

Sign in, open Create AI and pick realistic or anime. Anime suits the genre's roots and tends to match what futa fans expect visually.

State age, build, hair and style, then one plain line that she is a futanari character. Keep it factual and short; a paragraph of anatomy detail does not make the selfies more accurate.

Set personality and behavior
Give her a temperament (teasing, shy, dominant, playful) and say how she treats her own body: confident, proud, shy about it. This shapes the chat far more than appearance does.

How I put Joi AI through a futa roleplay
I built the character above through Create AI and ran a long text session, then came back in a fresh session to see what carried over. I checked three things in chat: whether she kept her body and personality straight as the scene went on, whether she recalled the setup in a new session, and whether explicit turns triggered refusals.
Outside chat I requested selfies at different points in the conversation, made a voice call, and kept an eye on the Neuron balance to see what each part of the session cost.
Test results
Free-text fields accept a futa description without fuss. No preset, so you write it yourself.
Personality held well. Anatomy details are safest when repeated in appearance and personality.
The card carries over; small details from mid-scene are the first thing to fade, as on most apps.
Best when requested early and with the appearance line restated. Expect the odd retry.
The reason to choose JOI. A futa character with a strong personality works well on a call.
Explicit messages spend Neurons, so heavy sexting costs more than the plan price suggests.
The more personality I gave the character, the better the chat held up. A short anatomy note plus a clear temperament gave the model less to juggle than a long physical description. Selfies are the part to be patient with, on Joi and on every other app on this list, because image models have seen far less futa art than anything else.
What a futa session really costs on Joi AI
Joi Premium was $17.77 billed monthly, or about $5.08 a month on the annual plan, when we last checked. That is the headline. The cost that matters for futa sexting is Neurons: Joi's terms say they are spent on romantic, erotic or sexually explicit messages, visual content and adult-themed scenarios. Roughly 4 Neurons per explicit message, up to 120 to view a photo, and up to 1,900 to view a video. Neuron packs start around $6.99 per 1,000.

Premium includes a monthly Neuron allowance, so the top-up column is the worst case. Still, "unlimited" is the wrong word for Joi.
